These natural attractions provide excellent opportunities for camping, hiking, beachcombing, or just appreciating nature. Blomidon Provincial Park is open from mid-May until early September and offers a 70-site campground with both woodland and open sites, two picnic areas, an unsupervised beach, and hiking trails. A group campsite, with kitchen shelter and fire grills, is available by reservation only.

  • Atlantic Theatre Festival
  • Charles MacDonald Concrete House - Centreville
    (19 Saxon Street) On the road to Hall's Harbour, north of Kentville. Known as "the cement house with the animals", this unique property is surrounded by cement lawn sculptures of deer, mushrooms, and other figures and furniture. Inside, the house is as it was built: every surface lovingly fashioned from cement and finished smooth with paint. From mantle to newel post, from chimney to dovecote, the impression is of a magical cottage.
  • Centre Stage Theatre - Kentville
    Live amateur theatre: comedies, musicals, mysteries. 18th year of performances. Centre Stage produces eight different plays a year, each of them running for six consecutive weekends on Friday and Saturday evenings. The production for June/July is traditionally a musical. The remaining seven plays are a mix of comedies, mystery-thrillers and warm-hearted dramas. The company takes a two-week break in during the Apple Blossom Festival (end of May, beginning of June) and three weeks in December/January. The rest of the time, one play is in production and the one following it is in rehearsal.
  • Old Kings Courthouse Museum - Kentville
    (37 Cornwallis Street) In former Kings County Courthouse, seat of justice and municipal government 1903-1980. Collection of cultural and natural history artifacts, archives of Kings County history and genealogy, and a Parks Canada National Commemorative Exhibit to the New England Planters. Main floor wheelchair-accessible.
  • Kentville Agricultural Centre and Blair House Museum
    Food and horticulture research centre (federal/provincial). Beautiful grounds with azaleas, rhododendrons, lovely pond. Guided tours in summer by prior arrangement. Blair House Museum has photos and historic artifacts relating to the history of the Kentville Research Station and the fruit-growing industry in Nova Scotia. Kentville Ravine Trail starts at picnic area. Centre & Museum are wheelchair-accessible.
  • Minilinks Family Entertainment Centre - New Minas
    (5518 Prospect Rd) 18-hole championship miniputt, inflated jumper, slingshot water balloons, playground, canteen. Open May 15 to Sep 30. (weather permitting); in summer daily 10am-10pm. Admission: pay as you go; group rates.
  • The Lookoff - Canning
    Spectacular panoramic view of Annapolis Valley and the Minas Basin--the "land of orchards and tides". Interpretive panels. Facilities open May to October.
  • Prescott House Museum - Starrs Point
    (1633 Starrs Point Rd) Charles Ramage Prescott made his fortune as a Halifax merchant, but earned his lasting reputation as a horticulturalist who introduced better varieties of apples and helped to establish the Fruit Grower's Association. Prescott moved from Halifax to Starr's Point and built this fine Georgian-style home of local brick from 1814-1816. Called Acacia Grove because of the numerous acacia trees planted on the property, the house was later restored and furnished by his great-granddaughter. The estate, with its attractive, well-kept garden, overlooks the dyked lands of the Cornwallis River in the agriculturally rich Annapolis Valley. It has been designated a National and Provincial Historic Site.
  • Randall House Historical Museum - Wolfville
    (171 Main Street) Artifacts from the 1760s to the 1950s reflect the way of life of area residents. Large collection of photographs, paintings, clothing and household items.
  • Acadia University Art Gallery - Wolfville
    In Beveridge Arts Centre. On the Contemporary and historical art exhibitions of local, regional, national and international origin. Collection of serigraphs by Alex Colville on display during the summer. June-Aug, daily 12-5pm; Sept-May, Mon-Fri 11am-5pm, Sat-Sun 1-4pm.
  • Robie Tufts Nature Centre - Wolfville
    (Front Street) Interpretive display of chimney swifts--birds that gather en masse at dusk from late May to late August and create an aerobatic display before darting into a chimney to roost. Inquire at visitor information centre for details.
  • Valley Drive In Theatre - Cambridge
    (Hwy #1) 50's style drive in theatre. Operates Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights all summer. 2 movies for the price of one. Canteen on site. 
  • Grand Pré National Historic Site
    Site of the church and cemetery of the 17th-18th century Acadian village that became the scenic setting for Longfellow's narrative poem Evangeline. Commemorates the Acadians of the Minas Basin and the Deportation. Sweeping gardens; memorial church with paintings, stained glass, exhibits.
  • George and Mary Lynch Heritage Museum - Berwick
    (113 Parrish Road) North at Central Kings High School, 4 km, right 1 km, left 0.5 km, first house on left. Collections of 19th- and early 20th-century carriages, sleigh and accessories, books, magazines. By appointment.
  • Grand Pre Wines
    (11611 Highway 1) Once Hans Peter became, in his words, "the proud owner of a run-down winery" he began cleaning up all 30 acres of the abandoned vineyard. In addition to replanting the original estate vineyard, he also planted a new, well-drained, south facing, 15 acre vineyard in the nearby Gaspereau Valley. Along with the beautiful vineyards, Domaine de Grand Pré offers an unforgettable experience thanks to Hans Peter's unique vision and attention to detail.
