Blueberries!

Remember that there are two locations for our commercial harvest; Blueberry Acres in Sheffield Mills and a field in Medford.

Our Fields are well maintained and groomed to a height and characteristic for easy picking, and the grass is kept mowed.

No hard labour required. No need to bend over and break your back at Blueberry Acres. All of our berries conveniently grow on high bushes within easy reach. These are cultivated varieties of berries that grow large and sweet - so it doesn't take long to fill up your flats.

Have another job and would like to pick on your free time?
... feel free to come and go at your own leisure.

Picking starts each morning once the bushes are dry enough.

Call our commercial picking line daily at 582-7095
and listen to the recording for up to date information on picking times and locations.

What to Expect

The Meeting spot is at Blueberry Acres Packing facility on the corner of Saxon Street and Middle Dyke Road, next to the "Between The Bushes" restaurant.

Parking is available across the street from the Blueberry Acres facility parallel to Middle Dyke Road. Car pooling is suggested as there will be  limited parking. (look for the parking signs)

All blueberries are hand picked into wooden, 12 pint flats and once full, tickets will be issued to you. You will present these daily at the Pay Window (scheduled pay time). This is the only verification of of your hard work - Hold on to your tickets! Blueberry Acres will not be responsible for lost or stolen tickets.

BLUEBERRY BUSBus service will be provided to take you from the meeting spot (Blueberry Acres Packing facility) to the blueberry fields that are being harvested.

Also a bus service will be provided to transport pickers from Blueberry Acres to Medford Farm. (leaves once daily, at the start of the day and returns to Blueberry Acres, at the end of the harvest day)

Best to come prepared for all weather conditions
as the weather may change throughout the day.

Dress in layers so that you can adjust your clothing
to suit changes in temperature.

Be prepared for the hot summer day and cover up.
Be sure to bring hats, sun screen and possibly
insect repellent (if you are picking later in the day).

Temperatures are considerably cooler before noon
and hotter after mid-day.

Water and food
(especially if you plan to pick the whole day)
Bring along a disposable drink container
to receive water in the field.

We recommend that you bring a two litre (no larger)
ice cream bucket with a tie to put around your neck.
This allows you to use both hands to pick with.
